student guide pt1

so firstly here is me today...

and here is my fave new pair of shoes i forked out a fortune for from office...

i have to say they are probably the most expensive thing i own but my god it was worth it!

ive decided to run this blog as a student survival kind of thing, and ill try keep up with it when i can, so here goes!

Health and Beauty

. lip balm on eyeslashes: I know it seems a little odd at first thought but trust me on this one it really works! last thing on a night when you have taken off your makeup, make sure that all traces of your mascara are gone. Then using a lip balm stick or your finger if maybe you are using a tin spread some onto your eyelashes (try not to get it in your eye it stings!) After a few days this will start to plump up your lashes and eventually they will appear fuller and longer

. applying foundation: This one only really works if you are using a mouse or cream foundation or some other form of liquid cover-up. Even though all the guides suggest you use a pad, i suggest using fingers! Make sure you wash your hands before or else the days grime will get in your pores, and then use your index and middle fingers on both hands to get a really even spread across your face. Then make sure you wash your hands again afterwards! This makes for a much clearer spread over your face and you can highlight the exact points of your own complexion that you believe needs it the most.

. re-using make-up pads: If you are one of those people (i know many myself!) who do not like the feeling of using your own fingers for make-up and insist on using a make-up pad then save money by washing them. After a while they thin out and become clogged up with various other forms of make-up, by popping them in a wash with some other clothes they will clear out and re-pump back up as good as new!

Home

. Washing by hand: It sounds simple and i imagine your parents tried to pass this knowledge on to you but it really does save hassle to wash the odd thing yourself. I don't suggest washing all your clothes as you're likely to mix the colours and its hard to wash more than one item at a time, but it saves time (and means you can leave your washing longer) if every noew and then you wash your underwear in the sink. Make sure you pop in a little soap powder and really use your knuckles to rub in the foam. Then make extra sure you rinse them as well as you can before hanging them up over a shower door or maybe just over your radiator.

. Sharing...: If you are sharing a house with other people (i live with two other girls and three boys :s ) make sure that early on you set down some ground rules. I'm not suggesting that you write a long list of chores and complaints as that won't make you anyones best friend, but simply having a chat can save a lot of unnecessary hassle in the long run. Talk about things like bills, bathroom rotas etc, then make sure that as much as possible everyone does their share of buying key things. These include things like toilet paper, fabric softner, washing up liquid and bin bags. If one person isnt carrying their weight then its not a great task to just slide into conversation that your running low and it might be their turn.

Nights Out

. flyers: If like me you live in a student dominated area then you will no doubt be innundated with flyers and take-away menus. Although these can be frustrating i do suggest that you keep the odd few. It can often be a life saver if you don't know what do on a random night but then you remember you have a stack of flyers to rifle through to see whats on! Often there will be gig listings etc that provide info for the coming months and so can be useful to keep around! Another bonus of these is that you can blue-tac them to the wall should you cause any damage until you are able to fix it :)

hope you find these useful, i'll try and keep 'em coming!

just a last little bit about me that i wrote a while ago when i got in from a night out:

My feet are not talking to me. They are mad at me for putting them in five inch platforms and then raving all night. I realised why I hadn't been feeling any pain from my 'I could be a model' shoes, and it was because I'd done the straps so tight to stop myself sliding out of them that I'd cut off circulation to my feet. Just taken off the shoes and my feet have swelled up to twice their normal size. I look like I stole the elephant mans feet. Had to wait outside the bathroom because jenny decided at 3am she couldn't sleep with hairspray in and so needed a shower. I spent my wait talking sweetly to my feet to resolve our fight.

My feet have decided to talk to me again and they're shouting.

Apprently changing your facebook status at half three is not a good idea. Neither Is texting your ex. Or the 'friend' who rejected you recently. Oops.

hope you enjoyed it :)

first try...

Hi there bloggers, my given name is Lauren but I'd much prefer it if you called me Lorali. I'm new to this kind of thing and am just really giving it a shot as i have a lot of thoughts in this little old head of mine and would greatly appreciate a platform for this to be appreciated on. I'm not sure yet as to what the rest of the blog will contain, there will be some adult content (i am an alternative model) but also some extracts that i may be writing for a book or just some general stuff. Who knows?! I'm just gonna go with it and see where it takes me.
